Charlize Theron to Tom Hardy: “How disrespectful are you?”

According to a witness, the “turning point” that marked the bad relationship between Charlize Theron and Tom Hardy was when, on a shooting day, the actress and the rest of the cast and crew arrived at 8 am and the actor It appeared three hours later despite the producers’ request for punctuality.

During all that time, Theron had left her baby at a nearby daycare and was ready to film. “She didn’t go to the bathroom, she didn’t do anything. She just sat on the War Rig,” commented camera operator Mark Goellnicht.

When Tom Hardy arrived on set, Charlize Theron blurted out, “How disrespectful are you?” And then she told the producers that they should “fine the motherfucker a hundred thousand dollars for every minute he’s stopped this crew.”

It was then that Hardy “charged towards her” and said, “What did you say to me?” Goellnicht stated that the “Venom” star seemed “pretty aggressive”, while Theron “really felt threatened”. “Then [she] said, ‘I want someone for protection.'”

“I didn’t feel safe”
About this episode, Charlize Theron said: “It got to a place where it was a little bit out of control, and there was a feeling that maybe sending in a female producer might equal something, because I didn’t feel safe.”

He also added, “I don’t want to make excuses for the bad behavior, but it was a difficult shoot. Now, I have a very clear perspective on what happened. I don’t think I had that clarity when we were making the movie. I was in survival mode; I really was. scared to death.”

The producer assigned to the actress, however, could not enter the set. “You understand the needs of a director who wants to protect the set from him, but when the time comes and things get out of hand, you have to be able to think about it in a broader sense,” Theron noted.

“That’s where we could have done better, if George [Miller] had trusted that no one would come play with his vision, but just come and help mediate situations,” he said.
