Hollywood star Gal Gadot said Tuesday that the Wonder Woman 1984 team wanted to “raise the bar” with the upcoming superhero film, which has been the toughest acting of his career.

Wonder Woman 1984, a much-awaited follow-up to the 2017 DC superhero blockbuster Wonder Woman, will see Gal Gadot surprise her role as the Amazon warrior Diana Prince / Wonder Woman and director Patty Jenkins.

The sequel confronts Wonder Woman with two new enemies: Max Lord, played by Narcos star Pedro Pascal, and Cheetah aka Barbara Minerva, essayed by Kristen Wiig, best known for bridesmaids.

Unlike other superhero films, which rely heavily on computer-generated imagery (CGI) to perform high-octane stunt scenes, Wonder Woman 1984 mostly draws real-life stunt choreography, said Gail Gadot.

“Most of the real people you see in the film are doing real work, whether it is us or stunt people. When you see it in a film, you can tell it is the real deal – whether it is facial expressions, weight, gait and speed. It was the hardest film I had shot so far but it was worth it. The actor told reporters at the film’s virtual global press conference from Los Angeles.

The original stand-alone film of 2017, which critics and audiences felt was sorely needed in the male-dominated superhero space, traveled to Diana as a true warrior, the Amazon princess.

Gal Gadot stated that Wonder Woman did not succeed at the box office, thus making both films a success.

“We wanted to raise the bar, we have everything. We knew that people had invested too much in the character and cared for it, ”said the actor, adding that she was very fortunate that it was not enough to see a character like Woman Woman on screen when she grew up.

The final battle between Wonder Woman and Cheetah, Patty Jenkins said, was one of the most incredibly complex scenes, for which she had to build an entire set from scratch.

He said, “There was no big stage in the world to accomplish this. We have Sirke du Soleil artists who are practicing tricks and show us what they are going to see and these people will ultimately have to do it, ”she said.

The director said that he and Gadot were clear from the beginning that the fight scenes between Wonder Woman and Cheetah would be “completely different”.

“They had a friendship in the past, it’s not about punching them in the face. They’re both trying to get each other out of control. Narratively and spatially, it was catchy, and it took a long time to execute. , Was laborious and wild. ”

“Everything was well-planned and deliberately done”, added Kristen Wiig, who plays the odd gemologist Barbara-turned-top-hunter Cheetah.

Mostly known for his comedic twist, Wiig said, playing the role of a villain was a “scary but fun experience”.

“I don’t really ask to do these kinds of things. I’m a superhero geek. I hadn’t done anything like that before. We really didn’t want her to be a villain as a villain girl. We wanted that So be it – what is it about him that makes him so lonely, invisible, and what does he need? ”He added.

Pedro Pascal said he went through the “Patty Jenkins experience” playing the role of Maxwell, a charismatic businessman with a hidden agenda.

“It has to be fulfilled, there are all risks, and humanity, no matter how deep a character. I certainly don’t know if I’ll be able to get there. If it works I want to give it to my director. It It was scary and thrilling to be able to do something that was very close to me… rather than a desperation, a desperation exposed with aplomb, ”he said.

Recalling the time she watched the opening sequence of Wonder Woman 1984, Gal Gadot stated that she went “deeply” to see her small screen self-realistically resonate with her eight-year-old child.

“That’s when I realized the power of these films. I’m a big believer that when you watch it, you think you can be it and then you become it. Now seeing that this character is one of my daughters. , And also affects boys and men, it’s so powerful, “she said.

While the first film was about the birth of Wonder Woman and the discovery of her humanity, the sequel explores how she lives with this humanity.

“She is trying to teach everyone how to cope with being a better self. (But) he is not perfect. Becoming a hero is not an easy thing. Jenkins said that I was interested in it.

The film will also see the return of Chris Pine as Captain Steve Trevor, who presumably died during the events of the first film in 1918, featuring Antip with Robin Wright, and Hippolyta, Diana Aunty and Mom as Connie Nielsen, respectively Were.

Chris Pine explained Steve’s role, saying that one person who reappeared after more than six decades was a “fish out of water”, which Diana would help accommodate in the new world is.

“It was a little harder than I expected. This is something commonly played by women and we played with those tropes in the first film. The biggest acting challenge of all time is that by pretending to be a child in the world (everything for the first time).

“In the first film, Steve is the audience who sees Woman Woman flying with a lasso and doing all kinds of crazy things. They began to believe like members of the audience what it means to be kind.

Wonder Woman 1984 has been released in Indian cinemas on 24 December in English, Hindi, Tamil and Telugu.
