Russia and Vietnam highlight high level of strategic cooperation

Moscow: Russian President Vladimir Putin highlighted today that his country values ​​the level of strategic cooperation achieved with Vietnam, in a meeting with his counterpart from that nation, Nguyen Xuan Phuc, highlighted the Kremlin.

During the meeting in this capital, the Russian president stressed that, despite the Covid-19 pandemic, trade between the two nations increased by more than 15 percent during 2020 and was higher than 16 percent in the first nine months of this year.

He recalled that in 2021 Russia and Vietnam celebrated the anniversary of the declaration of strategic partnership, but the relations between the two nations, he said, are much deeper than these decades lived within the framework of this memorandum.

The Russian head of state warned about the relevance of a set of important agreements in various fields, including those of the economy and humanitarian cooperation, which will be approved by the parties.

He also conveyed his greetings to the general secretary of the Communist Party of Vietnam, Nguyen Phu Trong, with whom he stressed that he shares similar positions on international issues.

Putin meant that Moscow and Hanoi work aligned within the framework of the United Nations and other regional organizations. “Vietnam remains our trustworthy, loyal friend and strategic partner,” he stressed.

For his part, the Vietnamese president expressed that his country considers Russia a close friend. He assured that he intends to promote exchange between the companies of both nations and to take relations with Russia to a new and substantially higher level.

According to the Russian presidential press service, the meeting between the presidents discussed current issues of Russian-Vietnamese cooperation in various fields, including political dialogue and the reactivation of ties through the Intergovernmental Commission.

In addition, it was proposed to strengthen commercial and economic, military-technical, scientific and technological collaboration, as well as contacts on humanitarian and regional issues.

As a result of the negotiations, the heads of state approved a Joint Declaration on the vision of the development of a comprehensive strategic partnership between Russia and Vietnam from now until 2030.
